Scope

This standard specifies the communication information content and information format required for in-vehicle navigation systems, with an emphasis on information used to generate or enhance route guidance instructions, as well as information that does not need to be included in the usual traffic management information list.
Although this standard primarily includes the requirement information for local-type route guidance systems that use in-vehicle map database data to determine routes, it also includes the requirement information for central-type route guidance systems that primarily use navigation center data to determine routes, as well as certain value-added information.
