Scope

This guidance technical document proposes recommendations to be followed when formulating procedures for capturing and storing electronic images of documents, which will ensure the preservation and integrity of the information recorded on the documents. This guidance technical document is applicable to optical storage systems that use write-once, read-many (WORM) media (CD-ROMs) to store electronic images of documents. It is not applicable to systems where images can be erased or modified after capture.
