Scope: This standard specifies the breed origin and characteristics, physical appearance characteristics, production performance, grade evaluation, and production performance measurement requirements of the Dongfang Black Goat. Breed origin and characteristics: The Dongfang Black Goat is an excellent local meat breed formed through long-term selection by local laborers in the unique natural environment of Dongfang. 4. Physical appearance characteristics: The Dongfang Black Goat has advantages such as resistance to heat and humidity, good adaptability, strong disease resistance, early maturity, and tender, delicious meat with thin skin and thick flesh, as well as low fatty odor. The entire body of the Dongfang Black Goat is mostly black, with a few being mottled or brown. Its fur is short, dense, and shiny. Both male and female goats have horns and a beard, with a slender neck. The back is vertical, with a high cross section and a slightly narrow chest. The abdomen is bulged but not sagging, and the mammary glands are mostly spherical with extra nipples. 5. Production performance 5.1 Weight and body measurements: The average birth weight, weaning weight at 3 months, and average weights at 6 and 12 months of the Dongfang Black Goat are 2.50 kg, 8.00 kg, 15.41 kg, and 25.50 kg, respectively.
