Scope

This standard specifies the clinical diagnosis and laboratory diagnostic techniques and procedures for bovine nodular dermatitis (LSD).
This standard applies to the diagnosis of bovine nodular dermatitis. Virus isolation and identification are applicable for proving the absence of infection in individual animals before their movement or for confirming clinical cases; electron microscopy observation is applicable for confirming clinical cases; real-time fluorescent PCR and ordinary PCR are applicable for proving the absence of infection in individual animals before their movement, confirming clinical cases, and monitoring the prevalence of infection; and serum neutralization tests are applicable for proving the absence of infection in individual animals before their movement, confirming clinical cases, monitoring the prevalence of infection, and evaluating the immunization effect.
