Scope

This standard specifies a method for identifying rubber types by analyzing rubber pyrolysis products using pyrolysis gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. This standard is applicable to raw rubber, vulcanized rubber, or unvulcanized rubber, which may be a single rubber or a blend of two or more rubbers. Using this standard, it is not possible to detect and identify certain types of rubber with a content of less than 10% in a blend. The rubber types identified by this standard are not limited to those given in Chapter 4.
