Scope

Scope: This standard specifies the terms and definitions of the technical specifications for the rearing and management of Simmental beef breeding cows, including the rearing and management of pregnant cows, perinatal cows, and lactating cows. This standard applies to beef breeding cow farms (households); Main technical content: 4.2 Rearing of Pregnant Cows 4.2.1 Rearing during the Early Pregnancy Period According to the duration of pregnancy, the period from mating to 6-7 months of pregnancy is referred to as the early pregnancy period. Stable-feeding should primarily use high-quality hay, grass, and silage, supplemented with 0.5-1 kg of concentrated feed per day, fed twice or three times daily. During the early pregnancy period, the amount of cottonseed cake should not exceed 10% of the concentrated feed, the amount of rapeseed cake should not exceed 8% of the concentrated feed, and the daily intake of fresh distillers' grains should not exceed 8 kg. For grazing management, coarse feed and concentrated feed supplements should be provided according to the grassland conditions. 4.2.2 Rearing during the Late Pregnancy Period The last 2-3 months of pregnancy are referred to as the late pregnancy period. During this period, the cows should primarily be fed on coarse forage, and the amount of concentrated feed supplements should be determined based on the cows' physical condition and the quality of the coarse forage. Pregnant cows should not be fed on cottonseed cake, rapeseed cake, or distillers' grains. For grazing management, concentrated feed supplements should be emphasized; during the dry season, carrots should be supplemented at a daily rate of 0.5-1 kg per cow, along with mineral and salt supplementation. 4.3 Management of Pregnant Cows 4.3.1 Prevention of Abortion Prevent pregnant cows from bumping into each other, avoid whipping or driving them, refrain from using them for labor, and avoid grazing or exercising them in rainy weather. 4.3.
