GB/T 20661-2006 Petroleum and natural gas industries—Flexible pipe systems for subsea and marine riser applications
Basic Information
Scope
This standard provides guidance for the design, analysis, quality assurance, storage, handling, transportation, and installation of flexible pipe systems in submarine and marine riser applications. Generally, flexible pipes are products that can be manufactured in many ways. This document does not limit the development of novel or new products in the flexible pipe market. On the contrary, it acknowledges the use of various design and analysis methods. For this reason, some topics are presented in general terms and with annotations, leaving room for users to use different methods and approaches.
This standard applies to flexible pipes with a design pressure greater than 1.55 MPa (225 psi), which are widely used in various marine oil production operations. Typical applications include risers, pipelines, and the connection of pipelines to wellheads.
The description of flexible pipes in this standard is general and involves many aspects of application, while flexible pipes with low pressure (design pressure not exceeding 1.55 MPa (225 psi)), flexible nozzles, wellhead control lines, and hydraulic control lines are not within the scope of this standard. Flexible pipes used to transport chemical products rather than oil products are also not within the scope of this standard.
A number of factors demonstrate the necessity of this standard. Flexible pipe systems have been widely used in many aspects of marine engineering, and as the industry advances into frontier technology fields such as deepwater, the number of potential applications has increased. As the number of applications increases, the number of manufacturers and structural types also increases. In addition, flexible pipes contain multi-layer structures of various materials, making the analysis and design of flexible pipes increasingly complex.
This standard does not provide a comprehensive description of flexible pipes. It may be revised when new information is provided.
