Scope
This document specifies the elements that enable communication capabilities in what are known as communication devices. The entire Field Device Integration (FDI) architecture is shown in Figure 1. The structural components within the scope of this document are indicated in dark colors in the figure. The FDI packages referred to in this document are limited to communication devices. The communication server shown in Figure 1 is an example of a specific communication device.
