Scope
This document specifies the design requirements for the AC-side impedance of voltage source converters used in high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems, and describes the factors affecting the AC-side impedance of voltage source converters used in HVDC transmission systems, the conditions for delay testing, the testing methods, and the conditions and methods for impedance testing.
This document is applicable to HVDC transmission systems that use modular multi-level voltage source converters.
Note: The impedance frequency range considered in this document is from hundreds of hertz to thousands of hertz, which is used for analyzing electrical oscillations within this frequency range between voltage source converters and AC systems. For the electrical oscillation frequency range, analysis methods, theoretical modeling of the AC-side impedance of voltage source converters, precautions for AC-side impedance testing of voltage source converters, and methods of suppressing oscillations in flexible DC transmission systems, please refer to Appendix A.
