Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, principle overview, test equipment, sample preparation, equipment calibration, test procedures, result presentation, and test reports for the determination of the thermal decomposition temperature of non-metallic sealing materials. This standard is applicable to the determination of the decomposition temperature and decomposition rate of non-metallic sealing materials, as well as the determination of the content of volatile substances, additives, and/or fillers contained in non-metallic sealing materials. The raw materials used for non-metallic sealing materials can also be used as a reference. This standard is applicable to thermogravimetric measurements conducted in either dynamic mode (where the mass changes with temperature or time under programmed conditions) or isothermal mode (where the mass changes with time under constant temperature).
