Scope
This document provides guidance for organizations engaged in project or program management to carry out activities related to the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). This document is applicable to all types of public or private organizations, organizations or units of different sizes, and projects or program groups of varying complexity, scale, and duration. This document provides explanations of terms and definitions, concepts, characteristics, benefits, uses, integrated application, and interrelationships related to the Work Breakdown Structure. This document does not provide guidance on the preparation and application of Work Breakdown Structure practices. Examples of the Work Breakdown Structure and its relationship with other decomposition structures are provided in Appendices A and B, respectively.
