Major Lemon Diseases 5.1 Ulcer Disease 5.1.1 Hazards It damages new shoots, leaves, and fruits, and in severe cases, causes leaf drop, fruit drop, and branch death. 5.1.2 Occurrence Patterns High temperatures and heavy rainfall facilitate the reproduction and spread of pathogens. Pests such as leaf miners can cause wounds on branches, leaves, and fruits, exacerbating the disease. Young seedlings and saplings are more susceptible to the disease than older trees. 5.1.3 Pathogen Ulcer disease is caused by Xanthomonas campestris. 5.1.4 Prevention Methods Prevent the introduction of pathogens from external nursery materials. Remove and destroy infected seedlings immediately upon detection. Apply copper-based pesticides 2-3 times during each shoot growth period and after harvest. Control leaf miners during summer and autumn shoot growth. Avoid mixing susceptible varieties (lemons) with other varieties. Clear the orchard in winter and burn infected branches. 5.2 Rapid Decline Disease 5.2.1 Hazards Leaf yellowing and mottling. Plants become stunted, with short branches and internodes, twisted leaves, small and rigid fruits, and adenoid and grooved wood tissues leading to plant death
