Scope

This standard specifies the method for determining chromium, arsenic, cadmium, antimony, and lead in cosmetics by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).
This standard applies to the determination of chromium, arsenic, cadmium, antimony, and lead in cosmetics such as creams, moisturizers, lipsticks, lip balms, eyeliners, foundation liquids, perfumes, nail polishes, shower gels, and shampoos by ICP-MS.
For the determination of chromium, arsenic, antimony, and lead, the detection limit is 0.07 mg/kg, and the quantification limit is 0.2 mg/kg; for cadmium, the detection limit is 0.04 mg/kg, and the quantification limit is 0.1 mg/kg.
