Scope

This standard specifies the high-performance liquid chromatography method for the determination of 1,7-naphthol, 2,3-naphthol, 1,5-naphthol, and 2,7-naphthol in cosmetics. This standard is applicable to the determination of 1,7-naphthol, 2,3-naphthol, 1,5-naphthol, and 2,7-naphthol in non-wax-based ointments, creams, emulsions, gels, waters, and powders. The detection limit of the method in this standard for the four naphthols is 2.5 mg/kg. The quantification limit of the method in this standard for the four naphthols is 7.5 mg/kg.
