Scope

This standard specifies the reagents and materials, instruments and equipment, analysis steps, result calculation, recovery rate and precision, and allowable deviations for the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry determination method of 10 prohibited glycol ethers and their ester compounds in cosmetics, including ethylene glycol dimethyl ether, ethylene glycol monomethyl ether, 2-methoxy-1-propanol, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether, 2-methoxy-propanoic acid ester, ethylene glycol methyl ether acetate, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether acetate, diethylene glycol dimethyl ether, diethylene glycol monomethyl ether, and triethylene glycol dimethyl ether. This standard applies to the determination of the content of the 10 prohibited glycol ethers and their ester compounds in cosmetics. The detection and quantification limits of the standard method are referred to in Table A.1 of Appendix A.
