Scope

Scope: This document specifies the technical requirements for the construction of grasslands in mango ecological orchards, including grass establishment, the use of weed-control fabrics, daily management of grass-growing areas, and daily management of weed-control areas. This document is applicable to the construction of grasslands in mango ecological orchards. Main technical content: 1. Terms and definitions: The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document. 1.1 Mango ecological orchard grassland construction: A method of controlling weeds in mango ecological orchards by combining artificial grass planting (grass establishment) with the use of weed-control fabrics. 2. Grass establishment 2.1 Preparation before sowing 2.1.1 Tilling the soil: Remove dead branches, diseased and pest-infested branches, and stones from the sowing bed surface, and deep-till the soil to 30–40 cm. Level the bed surface. 2.1.2 Digging sowing holes: Dig sowing holes within 100 cm of the mango trunk in rows spaced 40–60 cm apart. The density of sowing holes is 40–60 cm × 40–60 cm, with specifications of: bottom width (5–10 cm) × depth (8–15 cm) × face width (30–30 cm). 2.1.3 Covering soil: Prepare a substrate of coconut husk: peat = 1:1 as the covering soil after sowing. 2.2 Variety selection: Select grasses with strong creeping growth, high coverage rate, good soil improvement performance, and good palatability for livestock and poultry, such as Java soybean, Cuscuta grass, and Butterfly pea. 2.3 Sowing 2.3.1 Seed quality requirements: Screen for seeds with complete development, fullness, no disease, no pests, and a germination rate of not less than 90%. 2.3.2 Seed treatment: Adopt different treatment methods according to the characteristics of the selected seeds. 2.3.3 Sowing time: Sunny days in February–April or June–July. 2.3.4 Sowing method 2.3.4.1 Water the sowing holes before planting to keep the soil moist. 2.3.4.2 According to the size of the seeds, plant 5–6
