Scope

Scope: This document specifies the technical requirements for the cultivation of Hylocereus megalanthus, including terminology and definitions, site selection and planning, variety selection, pre-planting preparation, planting, water and fertilizer management, pruning and shaping, flower and fruit management, pest and disease control, harvesting, and production records. This document is applicable to the production of Hylocereus megalanthus in Hainan Province. Main technical contents: 4. Site selection and planning 4.1 Site selection: - Select areas with an average annual temperature of 20°C to 25°C, a minimum temperature of no less than 5°C, favorable ecological conditions, sufficient sunlight, convenient transportation, and a groundwater level of less than 1 m. - The pH of the soil should be 5.0 to 7.5, with loose, aerated, and organic-rich sandy loam soil preferred. - The site should have a gentle topography, convenient irrigation and drainage, and meet the environmental quality requirements of NY/T 391. 4.2 Site planning 4.2.1 Planning: - Based on local natural and production conditions, design road systems, planting areas, irrigation and drainage systems, and power systems in a site-specific manner. - General production areas should account for 80% to 85% of the total land area, with water source forests and protective forests occupying 5% to 10%, roads 4%, and residential areas, post-harvest product processing areas, and other uses accounting for approximately 4%. - Subdivide the site into zones based on slope orientation, soil type, and fertility consistency. For mountainous areas, each zone should cover 0.5 to 1.5 hectares; for flat areas, 1 to 3 hectares. Rectangular designs are preferred for zone layout. 4.2.2 Roads: - Establish main roads, secondary roads, and working paths based on the terrain, topography, and size of the orchard. - Main roads: 6 to 7 m wide; secondary roads: 4 to 6 m wide; working paths: 1 to 3 m wide.
