Scope

This standard specifies the method for the ion chromatography-integrated pulse amperometric determination of free amino acids in tobacco and tobacco products.
This standard is applicable to the determination of 18 common free amino acids in tobacco and tobacco products, including arginine, lysine, tryptophan, alanine, threonine, glycine, valine, serine, proline, isoleucine, leucine, methionine, histidine, phenylalanine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, cysteine, and tyrosine.
The detection and quantification limits of free amino acids in tobacco and tobacco products determined by this method are shown in Appendix A.
