Scope

This standard specifies the test methods for surge protectors (SPDs) used in low-voltage power distribution systems and surge protectors (SPDs) for signal networks. This standard is applicable to the testing of electronic and electrical equipment protectors (SPDs) that are assembled and connected to low-voltage power distribution lines with an AC rated voltage not exceeding 1000V (rms) and 50/60Hz, or DC voltages not exceeding 1500V, as well as telecommunications and signal networks.
