Scope

This standard specifies the method for determining the acid value of petroleum and petroleum products—the potentiometric titration method. This standard is applicable to the determination of acidic components in petroleum and petroleum products with a water content of less than 1%, where the dissociation constant of these acidic components in water is greater than 10-9. The range of acid value determination is 0.01 mg KOH/g to 500 mg KOH/g. This standard does not address all possible safety issues.
