Scope

This document describes a method for optimizing the accuracy of mass calibration for time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) instruments used for general analytical purposes. This document is applicable to time-of-flight instruments only, but is not limited to any specific instrument design. This document provides guidance on optimizing several instrument parameters that can be optimized using this procedure, and also provides general peak types suitable for calibrating mass markers to achieve the best mass accuracy.
