Scope

This standard specifies the determination of the main wavelength and excitation purity of paper and cardboard by using the matte reflection method to eliminate gloss. This standard is applicable to paper and cardboard that do not contain fluorescent dyes or pigments. When the amount of ultraviolet radiation emitted by the instrument's light source onto the sample is adjusted to be consistent with the fluorescent reference standard provided by an authorized laboratory under the CIE illuminant D65 conditions as specified in GB/T 7973, this standard can be used to determine the fluorescent whitening agents in paper and cardboard.
