This guidance technical document specifies a set of engineering methods for describing and determining user requirements for smart grid systems.
This guidance technical document is applicable to the process of determining user functional and performance requirements in project or system development.
This guidance technical document (PAS) is based on the business needs of utility companies and provides a set of methods for experts in the power system field to identify and describe user requirements in automation systems. This method was initially researched and developed by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) as part of the smart grid architecture, and it is a pathway to achieving future automated, self-healing, and efficient power systems.
This chapter describes the scope, purpose, and objectives of this guidance technical document, as well as the underlying systems on which it relies.
