Scope
This part of GB/T 18844 defines, describes, and classifies the characteristics of damage caused by cavitation to liquid hydrodynamic lubricated metal sliding bearings during use, and provides recommended countermeasures. This helps to understand the various forms of cavitation damage that may occur.
This part only considers damage with clearly defined appearance and damage that can be attributed to highly definite causes; various damage appearances are explained with pictures and schematic diagrams.
