Basic Information
Scope
This document specifies a test method for washing machines to reduce microbial contamination and cross-contamination of sterile carriers.
Note: A significant difference in reducing microbial contamination in washing machines is that the washing temperature does not exceed 40 °C.
This document is applicable to household washing machines with or without heating devices, and those with cold and/or hot water inlet. It is also applicable to washing machines used without detergents under normal conditions. It is equally applicable to washing machines shared in communities, apartments, or self-service laundries.
This document is not applicable to commercial washing machines, as well as washing machines used in the catering industry, hospitals, or other non-domestic settings. It also does not include washing machines used by people who require special disinfection treatment or disinfection techniques.
This document does not address safety requirements, nor does it include the performance of washing machines required by IEC 60456:2010 or the impact on fabrics, etc.
