Scope

This standard specifies the minimum performance requirements, technical characteristics, and testing methods for bridge navigation watch alarm systems (BNWAS) required by Chapter V of the amended International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), as well as the required test results.
This standard takes into account the general requirements of IMO (International Maritime Organization) Resolution A.694(17) and complies with the provisions of IEC 60945. When this standard is inconsistent with IEC 60945, the requirements in this standard shall take precedence.
This standard incorporates some of the performance standards contained in IMO Resolution MSC.128(75).
