Scope

This standard specifies the principles, reagents and materials, instrumentation, sample preparation, analytical procedures, result calculation, recovery rate and precision, and allowable deviations of the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method for determining 38 permitted colorants in cosmetics (excluding color lakes).
The HPLC method specified in this standard is applicable to the quantitative determination of 38 permitted colorants (excluding color lakes) in cosmetics such as lipsticks and nail polishes.
The detection limit and quantitative limit of the target substances in this standard are referenced in Table A.1 in Appendix A.
