This standard specifies the binding methods and requirements for binding materials of paper documents in libraries and archives.
This standard applies to the binding of books, periodicals, serial publications, and archival documents with special requirements for durability and endurance.
This standard applies to the following general processes: the initial hardcover binding of publications or non-published materials, the re-binding of monographs, periodicals, serial publications, and other paper documents, and the binding of other documents that require this type of protection.
This standard does not apply to the binding of documents with high artistic and historical value, nor to the binding that cannot be carried out in accordance with this standard due to the physical characteristics of the documents themselves.
