Scope

This document specifies the design, performance, and marking characteristics of Type I inflatable life rafts, and provides testing methods:
—— With a carrying capacity of 4 to 12 people;
—— Suitable for small boats with a hull length of no more than 24 m;
—— Suitable for being thrown overboard from a height of no more than 6 m;
—— Divided into two categories (Category A and Category B);
—— Designed for long-distance voyages in high winds and waves, but not including extreme situations such as hurricanes;
—— Possessing complete self-sufficiency;
—— Able to respond to various emergency situations without external assistance;
—— Not intended for navigation in extreme sea areas (such as the Southern Ocean).
Type II life rafts are specified in ISO 9650-2.
