Scope

Scope: This document specifies the technical requirements for the selection of nursery sites, nursery construction, rootstock selection, long-branch grafting method, water and fertilizer management, weed control, bud removal, and tie-up removal for mango long-branch grafting seedlings. This document is applicable to mango long-branch grafting seedlings. Main technical content: 1. Terms and definitions: There are no terms or definitions requiring definition in this document. 2. Nursery site selection: 2.1 Climate conditions: Annual average temperature > 17.5°C, annual effective temperature ≥ 10°C > 6,000°C, and absolute minimum temperature > 3°C. 2.2 Soil conditions: Sandy loam or loam soil with strong aeration and water permeability, good fertility, and water retention. The groundwater level should be less than 1 m, and the soil pH should be between 5.5 and 7.5. 2.3 Site conditions: The nursery site should be free of quarantine pests, with convenient transportation and irrigation, a flat terrain, facing the sun, and avoiding backlighting or low-lying areas with frost. 3. Nursery site construction: 3.1 Land preparation: Deep plowing of the entire nursery to 30–50 cm, removing tree roots, stones, and weeds. 3.2 Bed preparation: Each plot of 10–15 mu has a width of 80–100 cm and a length of 5–25 m, with a bed ridge width of 20–25 cm. 3.3 Nutrient soil preparation: Apply 2,500–4,000 kg of organic fertilizer per mu, mix thoroughly with the soil in the bed, and use it when needed. 4. Rootstock selection: 4.1 Variety selection: Disease-free and pest-free, with well-developed root systems and strong resistance to adverse conditions, such as Machesu, Palayindha, and Myan 8. 4.2 Specifications: One-year rootstock seedlings should be > 40 cm in height and > 0.6 cm in diameter; two-year rootstock seedlings should be > 70 cm in height and > 1.1 cm in diameter, ready for grafting. 5.
