Scope

This standard specifies the method for determining tar and nicotine in sidestream smoke. This standard stipulates the use of the suction parameters (suction volume, suction duration, and suction frequency) and cigarette butt length specified in GB/T 16450, but it is also applicable to other suction parameters. This standard is applicable to the determination of total particulate matter in sidestream smoke of cigarettes and the subsequent determination of nicotine and tar. This method may not be directly applicable to the determination of other sidestream smoke components.
