Basic Information
Scope
This document specifies the safety requirements for rock drills and anchoring drills designed for the following underground or surface operations: a) Blasting drilling; b) Rock anchoring; c) Secondary crushing drilling; d) Rock drills; e) Mineral exploration, such as core drilling or reverse circulation; f) Drainage and gas extraction drilling; g) Shaft drilling. Note: Drills may be designed for multiple of the above operations. For vocabulary, refer to ISO 18758. This document also applies to earthmoving machinery defined in ISO 6165 that has been modified into rock drills or anchoring drills. This document does not apply to the following machines: - Drills for soil and rock mixtures; - [Geothermal drills, water well drills, water jet drills, micro-piling drills; Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) as defined in ISO 21467]; - Kelly drills (and casing drivers); - Cable tool drills; - Advance reinforcement drills; - Sonic drills; - Shaft drills; - Crane-mounted drills; - Drills on derricks; - Rig drills. This document addresses the major hazards, dangerous situations, or dangerous events encountered during the intended use and under reasonably foreseeable misuse conditions of the rock drills and anchoring drills listed in Appendix E (see ISO 187581). This document does not apply to drills manufactured before the date of its publication.
