Scope

This standard specifies the methods for users to test the entire thermocouple, including the compensation cable, before and after installation, or after a period of use.
The purpose of the test is to ensure that the entire thermocouple is not damaged during storage or installation, that the polarity of the compensation cable and the wiring terminals is correct, and to provide reference data for future tests to evaluate whether the entire thermocouple has been damaged after use. Some of these tests may not be applicable to specific models of thermocouples that have operated at temperatures higher than the recommended limits.
