Scope

This standard specifies the types and dimensions of hobbing cutters with a slanted blade and a straight handle, as well as those with a Morse taper handle, for machine use.
This standard applies to high-speed steel hobbing cutters with a slanted blade and a straight handle with diameters greater than 5.3 mm to 20 mm, and to high-speed steel hobbing cutters with a slanted blade and a Morse taper handle with diameters greater than 7.5 mm to 40 mm.
This standard only specifies metric dimensions.
This standard lists two tables: one for the preferred dimensions and other corresponding dimensions; the other for dimensions segmented by diameter. Tolerances for the length of the hobbing cutter, the diameter of the cutting part, and the diameter of the handle of the straight handle are also specified.
