Scope

This standard specifies the functional safety requirements and test methods for power battery management systems (hereinafter referred to as "battery management systems") used in electric vehicles.
This standard applies to lithium-ion power battery management systems used in electric passenger vehicles. Management systems for other types of power batteries and power battery management systems for other types of vehicles can be implemented with reference to this standard.
