Scope

Scope: This document establishes the production and technical management measures for the intercropping cultivation of okra and Dutch peas in central and southern Hebei Province. This document is applicable to the intercropping cultivation of okra and Dutch peas in central and southern Hebei Province. Main technical content: Before sowing okra, after harvesting winter Dutch peas, apply 3 m3 to 4 m3 of composted organic fertilizer, 25 kg of triple compound fertilizer, and 15 kg of potassium sulfate per mu. Then shred the straw once, cultivate the soil twice, and plow it 20 cm to 30 cm deep, then level it to make furrows. The fertilizer application shall comply with NY/T 496 standards. Select early-maturing varieties with a growth period of ≤ 140 days, disease and insect resistance, high quality, and high yield, such as 'Shiqiuka No. 2', 'Fuxing 434', 'New Tokyo No. 5', and 'Oukai'. For seed soaking and germination, soak the seeds in warm water at 50°C to 55°C for 15 minutes to 20 minutes, then continue soaking for 10 hours to 12 hours at room temperature. After washing with clean water, germinate the seeds at 25°C to 30°C until 50% of the seeds show white roots. Sow the seeds immediately after harvesting winter Dutch peas, no later than May 31. Adopt large-row and small-row planting, with a large row of 80 cm and a small row of 40 cm, a planting spacing of 25 cm, a sowing depth of 5 cm, and 2-3 seeds per hole, with a total seeding amount of 1,000 g per mu. Field management: 5.5.1 Seedling thinning: Conduct the first thinning when the first true leaf unfolds, removing diseased, damaged, and weak seedlings; conduct the second thinning when the second and third true leaves unfold, selecting strong seedlings; and conduct the final thinning when the third and fourth true leaves unfold, leaving one strong seedling per hole. 5.5.2 Weeding and soil cultivation: Conduct 2-3 consecutive weeding and soil cultivation after seedling thinning, combining weeding with soil cultivati
