Scope
This standard specifies the method of calculating the statistical distribution of pulse sound exposure levels in environmental noise assessment using the engineering method. This standard is applicable to long-distance (e.g., 0.5 km to 30 km) propagation of pulse sounds generated by sources such as mine blasting, artillery firing, and bomb explosions using conventional explosives with moderate charge quantities (e.g., 0.05 kg to 1,000 kg TNT equivalent). The standard takes into account the effects of meteorological conditions and topography on sound propagation.
