Scope
This standard specifies the requirements for the design, manufacture, and installation of lightning protection equipment on small boats with a hull length of not more than 24 m.
Note: The likelihood of lightning strikes varies depending on geographical location and time, but when there are discharge conditions between clouds and the ground, lightning strikes are inevitable. On wide water surfaces or docks, small boats are likely to be struck by lightning. The lightning protection system on small boats cannot completely prevent equipment damage and personal injury, and this standard does not address such complete protection.
