Scope

This document specifies the performance requirements for lifting and tie-down connection points for earthmoving machinery as defined in ISO 6165.
This document applies to components and assemblies of earthmoving machinery that are intended by the manufacturer to be lifted or tied down using separate lifting or tie-down connection points.
Note: Some components (such as tires, wheels with tires, track assemblies, hydraulic cylinders) can be safely tied down without specific tie-down connection points.
This document applies to the following modes of transport:
—— Lifting by cranes (such as mobile cranes, gantry cranes);
—— Road transport (such as trucks, trailers);
—— Rail transport, including combined transport (such as containers, interchangeable bodies, semi-trailers, wagons);
—— Maritime transport.
This document does not apply to the following modes of transport:
—— Air transport;
—— Rail transport requiring transhipment.
This document does not include requirements for connecting machines to platforms such as railcars, ships, etc. for operation.
