Scope

From power generation to the grid serving consumer users, including transmission and distribution, as well as energy markets, all face numerous new challenges. At the same time, an increasing number of digital computing and communication technologies, electrical architectures, related processes, and services are being integrated. The power system faces the need to support the growing interactions between relevant participants, components, and systems. Therefore, the IEC proposes a clear and comprehensive roadmap for all standards supporting these interactions in an open and interoperable manner. The purpose of this document is to provide such a roadmap (available in 2016), while also presenting a vision of the path that IEC technical committees and working groups will follow in the coming years to enhance efficiency, market relevance, and the coverage of the series of standards published by IEC TC 57.
