Scope

This standard specifies the performance-based seismic design method for nuclear facility structures, providing a performance-based and consistent probability-based seismic design for safety-related structures in nuclear facilities to ensure that nuclear facilities can withstand the effects of the design reference earthquake and meet the expected performance requirements, expressed as probability target performance indicators. The probability target performance indicators are represented by the average annual exceedance probability of the structure exceeding a specified limit state. This standard applies to the seismic design of new nuclear facility structures.
