Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, and storage of voltage withstand testers. This standard applies to AC (power frequency) and DC voltage withstand testers with a maximum output voltage of no more than 15 kV, which have digital displays and analog (pointer) indicators (hereinafter referred to as "testers"), and also applies to the voltage withstand parts of other test instruments that meet the above conditions. This standard does not apply to voltage testing instruments such as inter-turn impulse voltage testers, which output pulse voltage or transient voltage.
