Scope

This document specifies a method for measuring the spray deposition of horizontal spray boom sprayers using a test rig. The deposition measurement provides a numerical value for potential spray drift. These measurements can be used to compare different settings of the same sprayer.
This document is applicable to hanging, tractor-drawn, and self-propelled horizontal spray boom sprayers used for field crops, weed control in orchards/vineyards, and spraying on horticultural crops.
This document is applicable to spray booms using the same spraying device. If used for classifying spray drift of sprayers, this document is limited to comparing nozzle types, spray pressure, and spray boom height.
Note: Further investigations and tests are ongoing to consider other parameters for classifying targets (e.g., airflow assist systems, forward speed, nozzle spacing, and direction).
