Scope

This document describes the test method for measuring the insulation resistance of vulcanized rubber and thermoplastic rubber. This method no longer distinguishes between volume resistance and surface resistance.
This document is only applicable to samples with a resistance greater than 108 Ω.
Note: The test methods for low-resistance samples are described in ISO 1853 and ISO 2878.
Due to the simplicity and ease of preparing the samples, this method is particularly suitable for cases where high accuracy of the results is not required, and only a general qualitative rapid determination of the resistance value is needed.
