Scope
This standard specifies the method principle, operating steps, and result calculation for determining the chemical oxygen demand (COD) in domestic wastewater from marine oil exploration and development using the silver nitrate shielding dichromate oxidation method. This standard is applicable to the determination of COD in chlorine-containing domestic wastewater generated during marine oil exploration and development, where the chloride concentration is no greater than 20,000 mg/L (chlorinity no greater than 20). The determination of COD in domestic wastewater from other industries can also be used as a reference. The lower limit of COD determination for undiluted water samples in this standard is 15 mg/L, and the upper limit is 700 mg/L.
