Scope
This document describes the principles, reagents and materials, instrumentation, sample preparation and experimental steps, data processing, recovery rates, and precision of the liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method for the determination of three caine-like substances (amitriptyline, butylscopolamine, and promethazine) in cosmetics.
This document is applicable to the determination of amitriptyline, butylscopolamine, and promethazine in water-based products, liquid oils, ointments, emulsions, and powder-based cosmetics.
The detection and quantification limits of this method are as follows:
- The detection limit for amitriptyline is 1 μg/kg, and the quantification limit is 3 μg/kg;
- The detection limit for butylscopolamine is 6 μg/kg, and the quantification limit is 20 μg/kg;
- The detection limit for promethazine is 0.3 μg/kg, and the quantification limit is 1 μg/kg.
