Scope
Scope: This document specifies the requirements for the organic cultivation of Astragalus, including site selection and preparation, propagation and planting, direct seeding, seedling transplantation, field management, harvesting and processing, packaging, storage, and transportation. This standard applies to the entire process of organic cultivation of Astragalus. Main technical content: 3.1 Astragalus is a dried root of the legume plant Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch. ) Bge. var. mongholicus (Bge. ) Hsiao or Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch. ) Bge. . 3.2 Organic farming is an agricultural production system that does not use chemically synthesized fertilizers, pesticides, or growth regulators, nor does it employ genetic engineering or ionizing radiation technologies. Instead, it follows natural laws and adopts farming, physical, and biological methods to enrich soil and control pests and diseases, in order to obtain safe biological products and their derivatives. 3.3 Buffer zone: A defined transition area set up between organic and conventional plots to limit or prevent the drift of prohibited substances from neighboring fields. 3.4 Farmyard manure refers to various organic fertilizers locally sourced and used, including compost, fermented manure, stable manure, biogas manure, green manure, crop straw manure, mud manure, and cake manure. 3.5 Thousand grain weight: The weight of 1,000 seeds of Astragalus as specified in the seed quality standard, expressed in grams (g). 3.6 Moisture content: The weight loss of seeds after drying.
