Scope
This standard specifies three methods for determining free sulfur in vulcanized rubber, namely two copper spiral methods and one sodium sulfite method. This standard is applicable to all types of vulcanized rubber, and the two copper spiral methods are also applicable to unvulcanized rubber materials within the scope described in Chapter 4. Appendix A provides the effects of various accelerators on the determination of free sulfur, expressed as a mass fraction.
