Scope: This document specifies the cultivation techniques for Aralia chinensis Linn., including the selection of cultivation environments, preparation before sowing, seedling cultivation, seedbed management, planting, field management, pest and disease control, timely harvesting, post-harvest tree management, and production management archives, etc. This document is applicable to the cultivation of Aralia chinensis Linn. Main technical content: 1. Terms and definitions: The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document. 1.1 Aralia chinensis Linn. (also known as Huajia, Shutaimai, or Cactus Tree) is a perennial tree species of the Araliaceae family. 1.2 Shrinkage shear: For 1–2-year-old Aralia chinensis, after harvesting tender shoots, retain the 40 cm-long branches above ground and cut off the remaining parts. For 10-year-old Aralia chinensis, it is advisable to cut back to a height of 1 m. 2. Selection of cultivation environments: Choose areas with convenient transportation, close to water sources, free from pollution, and with an altitude of 300 m to 3,000 m. The soil should be deep, loose, and fertile, preferably sandy loam or loam soil, meeting the requirements of GB 15618. Irrigation water should comply with GB 5084. 3. Preparation before sowing: 3.1 Variety selection: Choose high-quality local varieties. 3.2 Seed treatment: Collect seeds from 3–5-year-old trees, gently rub and wash them to remove empty and floating seeds. Remove them and place them in a net bag to dry. Then, rub and disperse them before sowing. 3.3 Tilling and irrigation: Till the soil fine, open furrows 200 cm wide with a furrow width of 170 cm and a furrow depth of 15–20 cm. 4. Seedling cultivation: 4.1 Sowing: Use seeds for seedling cultivation in December each year.
