Scope
This document specifies the test method for determining the in-plane shear stress/shear strain response, shear strength, and shear modulus of continuous fiber-reinforced plastic composites with fiber orientation of 0° and 0°/90° using a shear frame. This document is applicable to unidirectional fiber-reinforced, nonwoven, and/or woven (e.g., unidirectional fabrics) thermoset and thermoplastic composites, where the fiber orientation relative to the specimen axis is 0° and 0°/90°, and the layup is symmetrical and balanced relative to the specimen surface. This document is suitable for determining the shear properties within the range of linear and nonlinear load-deformation curves, where the shear strain can exceed 5%. Short-fiber-reinforced plastic composites and long-fiber-reinforced plastic composites can be used as reference materials.
